A sustainable transition

The road to fossil-free

The sustainable transition is crucial for future generations. But at the same time, it must also work for current generations. We need to drive, transport goods and travel, but we want to live smarter than before. Imagine if the transition could be so simple – that it could be done almost instantly.

The media often focuses on the electric car as the solution to the problem. But it involves a series of significant changes at the same time in order to succeed. Today, 98 percent of Swedish vehicles still have a combustion engine. It would be a huge waste of resources if we scrapped all our cars and bought electric cars. And where does the electricity come from? Today, there is not enough renewable electricity to power all our vehicles, nor do we have the infrastructure to transmit electricity from northern Sweden to the southern parts of the country. We also have inadequate charging infrastructure.

We need to start with the car fleet we have today and make it as sustainable as possible. The fossil-free alternative can be an electric car – but it can also be a vehicle with a combustion engine.

This is where the reduction obligation comes into play. The government has decided that we should phase out our fossil fuels by constantly increasing the proportion of renewable fuel in the fuel we use. It’s a smart solution to get closer to a fossil-free world – so what’s the problem?

We need more renewable fuel!

Today, not enough renewable fuels are produced to fulfill the reduction obligation. We must increase the production of sustainable fuels in order to phase out fossil fuels. The gap is increasing every year – both in Sweden and the world.

At Colabit, we look positively on more fuel producers investing in renewable fuels. This is because the industry needs competition! Together with others, we can make the sustainable transition possible.
