A few miles north of Gävle is the Port of Norrsundet, and also Colabit’s present pilot plant. This is where Colabit will build a modern biorefinery.
For several years, we have worked intensively with both our product and process to develop the large-scale production of fuel from fossil-free raw materials – such as ethanol, methanol and vegetable oils. Now our renewable fuel is ready to be sold on the market and it is time for full-scale production.
Our biorefinery will be built in two stages. When large-scale production is underway, work will begin on licensing to give other companies the right to produce and sell Colabit fuel worldwide.
Norrsund continues to be our most important hub. The proximity to the port is essential, both for receiving raw materials and for shipping our fossil-free petrol, diesel and aviation fuel.
Once in full operation, the biorefinery will produce 500,000,000 liters of renewable petrol, diesel and jet fuel every year.
Biofuels are vehicle fuels that are produced from renewable biomass.
The raw material can come from the forest, the field or even biogenic waste. There is a wide range of different conversion technologies that provide different types of fuels that can replace conventional gasoline and diesel. Most of these fuels are liquid, such as ethanol and biodiesel, but they can also be gaseous, such as biogas.
When fully operation, the biorefinery will produce 500,000,000 liters of renewable petrol, diesel and jet fuel every year.
This means that carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by approximately 1,270,000,000 kg/year.
– This corresponds to an annual emission reduction from 416,667 passenger cars running on fossil fuel.
