Our history

History

Colabit was founded in Norrsundet in 2013. The ambition was to use our experience in fuel and propellants to contribute to the transition toward a low-carbon society. It was clear to us that the lack of renewable fuels would be a major problem for society in the future.

Until Dec 2021, sales were also included in Colabit Sweden. The company sold and distributed the premium fuel HVO100.

In 2020, Colabit Sweden acquired the majority of the shares in Smart Energy Sweden Group AB. This increased our operations to include around 90 fuel stations, two depots and seven sales offices.

In December 2021, an agreement was entered into on the merger of the Company’s sales operations with the Norwegian company Greencube, and the Greenbit AS group was formed. In exchange for shares in the sales operation, shares in the associated company Greenbit AS corresponding to 37.17 percent of the total number of shares were received. This structural deal has refined the business for Colabit Sweden, which is now fully focused on establishing a production facility in Norrsundet north of Gävle.

In September 2020, Colabit Sweden AB acquired Norrsundets Hamn AB to gain full control over the land area within the port and the construction of the planned production facility for renewable fuels.

After many years of research, development and collaborations, we have the capabilities to produce renewable fuel. The pilot plant in Norrsundet will start large-scale production within the next few years. Our journey to drive the transition to a more sustainable society continues.
